Jet ski hire in Lanzarote: how a guided safari works

In Lanzarote, hiring a jet ski means joining a guided safari. You drive your own jet ski, behind an instructor who leads the route and keeps an eye on the group. We leave from Pontoon J at Puerto Calero marina, ten minutes from Puerto del Carmen.

No licence needed, and why

No nautical licence is required because the trip is guided by an instructor. A full safety briefing is given before departure and everyone wears a neoprene vest. That is the difference between hiring a jet ski on your own and joining a guided safari: you still drive, but someone who knows the coast sets the route and the pace.

Who can ride

What the trip is like

Trips run in a small group, always with an instructor at the front. The speed is set for the group: it is not a race, it is a way of seeing the coast from the water with the adrenaline kept under control.

What to bring

Swimsuit, towel and sun protection. Sunglasses with a strap and a rash guard help with the sun and the salt. Everything else, vest included, is provided.
